Why I Volunteer With Convivio

I volunteer with Convivio because it’s an honor to collaborate with a nonprofit that embraces Italian culture as a whole and the intricacies that make it special. The older I get, the more I appreciate my roots from Sicilia and Marche, regional languages/dialects, and most importantly, the food. Working with Convivio also helps me honor all my grandparents’ legacies in a way that’s fun and interactive. It provides an opportunity to come full-circle to give back to the Little Italy neighborhood that served as a beacon for immigrants like themselves. My grandparents were active members of the community from being business owners to being involved with Our Lady of the Rosary Church. I do my best to follow their example by maintaining a strong work ethic and by displaying unwavering dedication to my friends and family. My goal is to utilize these skills to showcase Little Italy’s past, present, and future to all generations in San Diego County.
